Content Analyst and Developer

Don't let the title Analyst throw you off. We're not just looking for a number cruncher, data miner, or metrics czar. Yes, our team is on the hunt for someone who is able to perform those roles, but we need those abilities to be one part of the full package. We want a really well-rounded researcher and interpreter who is above all a writer. You won't just be uncovering data, you'll be turning it into something meaningful and informative. To really excel, you will have the ability to drill through very broad sets of data, spot patterns, and then leverage your analysis to write compelling content. In this role, the data is just a platform from which to demonstrate your undying passion for all things related to the written word. With the information you have uncovered, you will develop infographics, reports, documentation, whitepapers, and ebooks that clearly demonstrate relationships, outcomes, and trends. Your content will be published to internal and external audiences. It will demonstrate that the medium is no longer the full extent of the message; rather, that in our changing industry the quality of the content is the message.

The Content Analyst and Developer is a new position within our growing Content team that will influence our long-term practices. The chosen candidate will be responsible for unveiling data related to our internal marketing and content operations, demonstrating relational analysis that will inform our day-to-day customer-facing workflows, and developing both short- and long-form content that will capture not only where we are headed as a team but also where we're headed as an industry—and why we are leading the way.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Working independently to design and execute research plans that result in regular and ad hoc reports. Business needs include both unique and comparative reports yielding meaningful patterns and breaking trends.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gain an in-depth understanding of the content development and creation process.
  • Writing infographics, reports, and process documentation that clearly demonstrate relationships, outcomes, and data points.
  • Communicating proactively and effectively with the Content, Marketing, Sales, and Technical teams (and executives) on research points that will influence decision-making and optimization processes.

About You

At a minimum, the Content Analyst and Developer should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, as well as five or more years of experience in research and writing. Experience developing content or reports across multiple channels and platforms is highly desirable.

To be successful in this role, you must be:

  • Detail oriented. You know how to cross your Ts and dot your Is, and don't rely on an editor to clean up after you downstream—not because accidents don't happen, but because you review, review, review your own copy.
  • Collaborative. Lots of people say they are team players. Lots of companies say they only hire team players. We mean it. Every person on our team is accountable for collaborating in a proactive, "how can I help?", constructive way.
  • Persistent to the point of being scrappy. Got a hunch about something, but having a hard time backing it up with relevant data? Rather than giving up, you'll need to dig in further to really prove your point. In this role, you will always be asked to quantify your observations.
  • Smart. Pedigree is nice, but that's not what we mean. Rather than re-inventing the wheel with every project, you are the person who works out a process, documents it, shares it, and re-works it as needed. You are the person who is interdisciplinary, sees patterns in apparently unrelated topics, and finds a way to demonstrate how they are truly related. You are the person who, when confronted with an insurmountable problem, simply takes a step back, assesses objectively, and isn't afraid to call out the obvious (and act on it). We're looking for a quick learner who can become a subject matter expert regarding our content as well as our technology—and have the ability to communicate this knowledge with a technical and non-technical audience.
